Dolly clone - axis issues

Hi Folks,

I am trying to get the axis homed, the Z and the X seem to be homing OK, but the Y axis is just doing whatever it wants!

When I try to home my Y axis I get the bed move one step then press home again is one more step. And so on. Can anyone advise?

Also, if I put it in the home position (all the way forward towards the pulley) I then press centre, and it moves to centre, but it wont move negative (i.e. in the direction of home) because it thinks its hit an endstop. Is anyone able to advise?

Running on Marlin Marlin 1.1.0 RC8 I think it is, all standard no code changes (as downloaded from Tom’s Dolly page)

echo: M851 Z0.00
ENDING:G0 X100.0 Y100.0 F3000
echo:SD init fail
echo:endstops hit: Y:99.99
echo:endstops hit: Y:109.98

So I set the printer manually “home” on all axis.

echo:SD init fail
X:0.00 Y:0.00 Z:0.00 E:0.00 Count X: 0 Y:0 Z:0

I then press centre X and Y (which works beautifully)

X:100.00 Y:100.00 Z:0.00 E:0.00 Count X: 10000 Y:10000 Z:0

I then press “home Y”, the Z axis moves up, and the Y axis moves forward a step (so still in the middle of the axis, and reports this:

X:100.00 Y:0.00 Z:5.00 E:0.00 Count X: 10000 Y:0 Z:20000

Any ideas?

check the endstops

In the end it was seemingly a 2 part issue.

  1. the cable for the endstop was disconnected (just enough to look like its plugged in, but not enough to actually make a connection.
  2. there was also the incorrect wiring on the endstop (back to front)
